Meet Drew - Master’s Level Intern

Counseling for Teens, Young Adults, and Younger Couples

The years between high school and early adulthood can bring enormous pressure to determine who you are, where you are headed, and how to build healthy relationships. You may look like you are managing life well while privately feeling anxious, discouraged, disconnected, or uncertain about what comes next.

Drew works primarily with high-school students ages 15 and older, young adults, and adults in their 20s and 30s. He also works with dating, engaged, newly married, and younger couples who want to build a healthier foundation or address concerning patterns before they become deeply established.

Individual Counseling

You may know that something needs to change but have difficulty explaining exactly what is wrong. Anxiety or overthinking may be wearing you down. You might feel uncertain about your identity, relationships, faith, career, or direction in life. Perhaps you feel behind compared with others or pressured to become the person everyone expects you to be.

Drew has a particular interest in helping people who may not be accustomed to talking openly about what they are experiencing. This includes teenage boys and men who feel pressure to remain strong, solve problems independently, or hide struggles from the people around them.

Drew may be a good fit if you are experiencing:

  • Anxiety, overthinking, or persistent stress

  • Depression, discouragement, or loss of motivation

  • Difficulty with confidence or self-worth

  • Questions about identity, faith, or purpose

  • Academic, career, or family pressure

  • Relationship difficulties or family conflict

  • The transition into college, employment, or independent adulthood

  • Uncertainty about your future or the direction of your life

  • Difficulty understanding or expressing your emotions

Drew’s counseling style is genuine, conversational, and practical. He creates room for you to speak honestly while also helping you recognize patterns, better understand yourself, and develop tools you can apply outside the counseling room.

Couples Counseling

Drew works with dating, engaged, newly married, and younger couples who want to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, or stop recurring conflicts from defining their future together.

You may care deeply about one another but repeatedly end up in the same argument. One person may pursue a conversation while the other shuts down or pulls away. You might struggle to communicate needs without creating defensiveness, or you may feel more like roommates than partners.

Drew helps couples slow these interactions down, understand what each partner is reacting to, and practice healthier ways of communicating and reconnecting.

Couples counseling with Drew may address:

  • Premarital preparation

  • Recurring arguments and unresolved tension

  • Difficulty communicating needs and emotions

  • Emotional distance or loss of connection

  • Differences in expectations

  • Adjusting to marriage or parenthood

  • Boundaries with extended family

  • Faith and values within the relationship

  • Building a stronger relationship foundation

As a husband and father, Drew understands that healthy relationships require more than good intentions. He is receiving focused training in Present Hope Therapy’s approach to couples counseling under the direct supervision of Gabriel Lobato, LPC.

Drew’s Background and Approach

Drew is completing his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. His approach is grounded in person-centered therapy and incorporates evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Counseling is adapted to each client’s experiences, values, needs, and goals.

Drawing from years of ministry experience, Drew has spent considerable time walking alongside people during difficult and uncertain seasons. He understands that faith can be an important source of meaning and hope, while also recognizing that emotional struggles cannot always be resolved through simplistic answers.

For clients who desire it, Drew welcomes the thoughtful integration of Christian faith and spirituality into counseling. Faith integration is always based on the client’s preferences and is never required.

Drew is directly trained and supervised by Present Hope Therapy’s Clinical Director, Gabriel Lobato, LPC. This provides clients with an affordable counseling option supported by the oversight and experience of a licensed professional counselor.

Take the Next Step

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning counseling. If you are a teenager, young adult, adult in your 20s or 30s, or part of a younger couple wanting to create meaningful change, Drew would welcome the opportunity to meet with you.
